by Saeki Mahiru
This is the story of an ordinary life being quietly taken over. After moving from Tokyo to Yamagata, a quiet city in northern Japan, Mahiru Saeki finds herself alone in a small apartment. At first, she is terrified to learn that a man is living in the space above her ceiling. But he follows rules. He never hurts her. Never enters her bed. Never comes to her workplace. He only cooks, cleans, and watches over her daily life. And little by little, Mahiru begins to wonder which is more frightening: The man in her ceiling… Or the thought of living without him.
