Long before the dead city, long before the desert, the Confederation Navy dispatched ten ships on a secret mission. It was a one-way trip, from which there would be no return. Of the ten ships of task force Argos, only the light cruiser Reaper and her avatars remain. Her crew is long dead, the Terran Systems Confederation long forgotten, the remains of humanity reduced to little better than superstitious primitives. But Reaper's task is not yet ended.Note: This is a side story that follows the events of and takes place in the same world and timeline as Oasis of the Eye and Siege of kel-Asara. As events in Siege of kel-Asara will determine what can happen in this story, there will be occasional delays while the plot of Siege of kel-Asara (currently available on Scribble Hub only due to lack of sufficient backlog to begin posting here) is progressed sufficiently to allow Perchance to Dream to continue. There are also major spoilers for the core storyline throughout.Note: as of 10/1/26, chapters Prologue through X have been re-edited for tense, typos, grammar and word choice.

Traffic and conversion both sit mid-field for a story this size. Growth here compounds from consistency: steady cadence feeds traffic, and a sharper hook lifts what each view is worth.
