Humanity is gone. At least, that's what Mark and the others have always been taught. For generations, the survivors of the Great War have lived beneath the endless canopy of a world reclaimed by nature. The ruins of civilization lie buried beneath vines and decay, while terrifying creatures known as Dark Hunters stalk the wilderness beyond their settlements. When Mark and a small group of survivors are forced from the safety of their home, they quickly discover that the world is far larger, and far more dangerous, than they ever imagined. As injuries, secrets, and growing tensions threaten to tear the group apart, an unnatural infection begins spreading through Mark's body. With it come disturbing visions, whispered voices, and glimpses of a horrifying truth hidden beneath centuries of fear and legend. The Dark Hunters were not always monsters. And something older, darker, and far more sinister may still be alive in the ruins of what remains. In a journey through the overgrown remains of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a group of survivors must decide who they can trust, what they're willing to sacrifice, and whether humanity deserves a second chance. Because some horrors don't die. They wait.
