The Long Silence

The Long Silence

by TheLongSilenceOfficial

ApocalypseHorrorPsychologicalShort StoryTragedy

A near-future United States in 2027 is shattered by a mass EMP strike attributed to Russia. The attack doesn’t just knock out technology temporarily---it permanently collapses modern infrastructure. No reliable electricity. No networks. No GPS. No modern supply chains recovering in time. The US doesn’t “end” loudly. It goes quiet. This state becomes known as “The Long Silence,” not just the loss of power, but the long-term absence of modern connected life. This follows the story of an 18 year old named Wilhelm Schweitzer. He is greatly traumatized, and feels alone. He trusts almost nobody. (The Prologues take place in 2027. The main story takes place in 2030.)
