For over a century, master huntress Zarola has survived the Frozen Wastelands, carrying the heavy burden of an ancient bloodline curse that is slowly killing her father. While her people freeze on the surface, the arrogant high-elves of Vreselon live in luxury on floating islands siphoning life from the world below. But the fragile balance is collapsing. A predatory, terrifying "black rot" is aggressively consuming the tundra, turning living beings to ash. When the rot claims her own patrol partner, a mysterious Dark Kirin guides her to Cythil—a charming, silver-eyed sky-elf rogue bleeding out in the gray snow. Bound by a desperate transaction, Zarola must rely on his royal clearances to find a cure, while he needs her survival skills to navigate the lethal crags. As they run out of time against the crawling infection, their mutual hatred ignites into a slow-burn devotion. But to stop the parasitic empire, Zarola must invade the floating city itself—where a century-old historical atrocity await in the clouds.
