Three hundred dead players wake in the Return Game, a battle royale where the final survivor earns a second chance at life. Everyone chooses an Authority. Fire. Gravity. Healing. Mind Control. Devotion. Shadow. Sho Sho chooses Patron Authority, an F-rated non-combat class that gives him no weapon and no way to win alone. Instead, he can sponsor other players, fund their growth, write contracts, and earn a share of their rewards. At first, it looks like the worst possible choice. Then Sho Sho finds the players everyone else dismissed: a glass-user who can turn defense into battlefield control, a venom-user with the makings of an alchemist, and a pain-transfer fighter who refuses to be anyone’s weapon. In a game built to destroy trust, Sho Sho has to build a team powerful enough to survive, dangerous enough to matter, and loyal enough not to kill him when only one person can go home.
