Lviv, 1975. The world has changed after humanity decided to defeat not death, but the memory of it. Cemeteries have vanished from maps. Funerals have been replaced by cold state procedures. The dead are no longer called dead — they are called “departed.” Their belongings are taken away, their names are restricted, and grief is treated as a dangerous illness. Leon, a young archivist living a quiet and lonely life, is used to processing the files of the departed without asking questions. But one day, he discovers an old memory capsule hidden in 1914 by a priest who refused to let the dead be erased. Inside are letters, photographs, crosses, and names of people the system tried to bury without graves. With the help of Solomiya, a mysterious young woman connected to forbidden archives, Leon begins to uncover the truth behind a world built on silence. But the deeper he goes, the more terrifying the question becomes: Does a person have the right to return pain to the world, if love, conscience, and the soul return with it? The World Without Graves is a dark historical dystopian mystery about memory, grief, love, and the price of forgetting the dead.
