Val was once one of the heroes who saved the world. History just gave the credit to louder people. A century later, he wants nothing to do with kingdoms, prophecies, or heroic institutions that keep turning disasters into ceremonies. He would rather stay forgotten. Instead, he’s travelling with Lily, his apprentice, whose overwhelming magical power is slowly killing her. Their search for a cure leads them toward ruined war records, forbidden academy research, and truths buried after the last demon war. It starts with a mountain said to hold a miracle cure. Instead, they find a dragon running a fake healing scam complete with advertisements, forged testimonials, and a pile of dead pilgrims beneath a glowing apple tree. Val kills the dragon. Unfortunately, that turns out to be the easy part. Because another demon cycle is coming, the summoning stone used to call heroes from another world has vanished, and the kingdoms are preparing to repeat the same mistakes that nearly destroyed the world the first time. A progression fantasy & LitRPG with hidden history, dangerous magic, deadpan humor, and an archmage who is far more dangerous than he looks.
