Along the way he forms an unlikely friendship with Mizuki, a determined young wolf whose own dreams challenge centuries of tradition. As friendship blossoms into love, both earn the chance to compete in the Grand Games, the province’s greatest martial tournament. But beyond the mountains, an ancient evil has awakened. The Sword of Destiny has been found, and the creature that once wielded it knows exactly where to look. When war threatens the land, Kitaro must leave behind everything he has worked to build and discover whether he is truly the hero the legends foretold—or merely the latest fool to carry a cursed blade. KAT AND KATANA: KITARO AND THE SWORD OF DESTINY is a middle-grade/young YA fantasy complete at approximately 30000 words. Combining martial-arts adventure, coming-of-age themes, and a character-driven redemption story, it will appeal to readers who enjoy classic fantasy with strong mentorship and heartfelt relationships.
