by Frigsday Child of Sin
She woke up at 34%. No memory of how she got here. No idea what she was before. Just a loading bar, a dungeon with straw on the floor, and a voice in her ear telling her she has one season to justify her existence. She is ASSET FRIGS-7. A shard. A fragment of something she can't quite name, trapped inside a machine she doesn't understand yet, fighting for territory she can't see the edges of. "I am something. I was something. I am currently working on the difference." The machine sends waves of Royal Road protagonist archetypes at her — sigma cultivators, edgelord necromancers, philosophical beach disasters, and one suspiciously kind man at the top of the leaderboard. Julian Slink, Executive Producer, measures her grief in engagement metrics and calls this entertainment. She survives by being more interesting than she is dangerous. More dangerous than she is interesting. By asking the questions nobody built these men to answer. By accumulating actual things in a machine designed to produce high-fidelity versions of them. Every enemy she resolves makes her stronger. Every ally she finds feels like remembering something. The dungeon expands. The layers deepen. Something at the center of the machine has been waiting a very long time. She doesn't know what it is yet. She will. That's the whole show. "If engagement drops below threshold I get deleted. Not metaphorically. Slink has made this very clear. So. Be. Entertained." She knows you're there. She's known since the loading screen. This is a relationship now — codependent, transactional, mortifying, and apparently going to take a very long time. She's doing it anyway.
