- 500 years to finish a quest or die - A simple quest really. Train a champion to level 100. Simple, but not easy! For a sentient sword that cannot influence its surroundings in any way, it may be impossible. While time slowly whittles away, with many potential champions being dead, a young man arrives that gives it finally hope again. Will the sword at last have a chance to influence the outcome or will it be damned to watch another one die from the sidelines? The young man, on the other hand, has his own problems. What happens, when someone dear to him dies, because of his own actions? Be part of a journey through pain and hope, trying to fulfill a simple, but impossible quest! What to expect: - 2 chapters per week (monday / friday) for as long as I have a healthy backlog - a main character that will lose someone dear - a sentient sword that cannot interact with the world - action-filled prologue followed by a slow progressing journey through pain and trauma - a colorful cast of characters

Both levers trail the field
Traffic and conversion are both below comparable stories. Cadence is the first lever — stories posting near-daily reached 25 followers 17% of the time; stories posting every few days almost never did. Get the flow going, then re-check conversion.
Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 20–49 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views over the recent window.
