Mechanic In A Magocracy

1 Of 4 in the Entropic Wars Collection  Humanities first greeting to the galactic stage was not what we had hoped. No songs were sent back, no messages of peace. The Hritzen's first and only demand was submission. It was allowing them to take our people, our land, our resources for what they would like. Their first landing was Chicago, a collection of landing ships shooting out from the edge of the system and slamming down before humanity could respond. The first hours of the Hritzen Invasion was not against a battle between militaries, but civilians and law enforcement trying to survive until the military could arrive in force.   Oliver's, newly released from the army and having opened a mechanic shop a year before the invasion felt it as he heard it. One of the ships just a mile away as it cracked concrete. His first action was grabbing the boxes of gear that had been lost in that "Training Exercise" a decade or two ago and loading up. The next was finding his two employees/ adoptive children Lars and Kairny to take to his potentially unpermitted bunker underneath the shop. Along the way finding a group of civilians and being unable to leave them organizing what would be later turn into the first organized attacks by civilians in The Battle Of Chicago.  Oliver, at least not for a long while would not know the impact of his actions as after taking an alien battery and attempting to use it he was dragged elsewhere. There are humans here, or at least they are known but few and far between. A world where a different force is beginning to close in on a world of more than just humans, where the gods are slowly falling short as the gem of Aecerion, the world they have protected for longer than a mortal can understand has been revealed. Entropy has found it in its gaze and intends to take it by force. Oliver will have to use his knowledge of mechanics and the small amount of gear taken with him to firstly survive in a world full of new threats, but to find a way to keep Aecerion safe, and hopefully in time to help the family he left on Sol survive the Hritzen Invasion.  The story if part of the Entopic Wars Collection a large multi-story writing project I have been working on for about a year. All of the stories that will be apart of it can be read on their own, but reading them all will reveal some more, let you see the other perspectives of the fight between humans, the allies they've found and/or made, against not death, but the concept of dying, of endings itself. They will be released as I get a good backlog for yall of them and eventually all conjoin into a final series wrapping up the main storylines.  Comments, Critiques, and Compliments are always appreciated! -Cao
