The words rolled around in Skye's mind as he thrust his spear through the neck, or at least one of the necks, of the creature in front of him. "All worlds are dangerous, Skye, this one is no different. Violence never stops, it just changes. And we think that if we just use the right type of violence, we can fix it. We just add to it." Was he using the right type of violence now? It felt right, like it was meant to stop this beast born from the sickness of a dying soul from destroying everything he loved. But the words that whispered into his ear made him unsure. [Faded Husk returns to the cycle] The cycle will continue. The cycle of life, the cycle of violence. It didn't matter which. He didn't want to be the one to return. He had come to this world with nothing but a past he didn't want to remember, and built something he couldn't abandon. He had allies now. A home for the first time in a long time. People who relied on him to survive. From the roots under his feet he willed his Minions to sprout. Growing from the ground, his Chestnut Warriors sprang up, shields in hand. He would keep trying until he found the right violence.
