The Kingdom of Rihall is crumbling. By all accounts, the decadent realm should have been easy prey to its expansionist neighbor, the Retonese Empire. However, each invasion has been repelled by the sheer merit and determination of its venerable constable. The said constable has grown old and wishes to retire, but the boy-king won't let him. Despite the desperation to find a worthy successor to defend the kingdom, the Constable has overlooked the obvious candidate of his nephew, Cale, who has always aspired to take on the mantle. Cale is sent to escort Princess Aucina to a neighboring kingdom to secure an alliance against the Retonese. However, little does Cale know that Aucina has betrayed everyone.
