The forest remains at the heart of Elydria, swallowing adventurers, breaking caravans, and bending trade routes around its borders. Those who enter its depths do not return. Victor and Ace should have been no different. Yet when Gareth’s party is driven too deep into the forest and left struggling to survive, the two appear from among the trees without panic, wounds, or explanation. After helping the party escape, Victor and Ace follow them to Dawnrest, a frontier town in the Dawnward Marches, where they register as new adventurers and take their first steps into the world beneath the Eight Thrones. Their beginning should have been ordinary. But ordinary stories do not walk out of the Godforsaken Forest.
