God's Right Hand

A benevolent demi-god Queen has spent decades protecting her kingdom from the Midnight Crows, an order that feeds on negative emotion. Then the Crows vanish. Her people celebrate. But the Queen is left alone with an unbearable question: Was I really helping, or only postponing the inevitable? Crushed by doubt and grief, she gives up her power, walks away from her throne, and learns to be human. Not as a hero in disguise. As a nobody. But the Crows are still out there. And they have not forgotten her.
