Seven years ago, Lumia’s father died in a tragic accident. At least… that’s what she was told. And now her childhood Quarn is mysteriously killed, leaving behind nothing but a blood-stained collar. With her mother’s encouragement, Lumia leaves home. Partly to uncover the truth about her Quarn. Partly because she still hopes her father might be alive. Lumia isn't a strategist or a prodigy. She’s naive, impulsive, and usually trusts her gut before she trusts logic. In a world she barely understands, sometimes all she has to guide her is a feeling of “good vibes” or “bad vibes.” Then a dying stranger places a glowing crystal in her hands. From it is born Formine—an artificial Quarn that shouldn't exist. In this world, only those capable of forming a soul-bond with a Quarn can become Bonders, allowing them to merge their souls with their Quarns in battle. But Formine's existence challenges everything Lumia thought she knew about Quarns. As Lumia searches for answers, she finds herself surrounded by strange experiments, missing pieces of her father's past, and people whose intentions aren't always what they seem. And somehow, the course of events is beginning to change. Someone is interfering with the future. Lumia just doesn't know who—or why.
