The Empire of the Lattice appears eternal. Shapur XIV sits upon the Dragon Throne while the empire drifts into ceremonial stagnation beneath algorithmic peace. His eldest son Ashim is the perfect heir: disciplined, emotionless, incorruptible. His younger son Ishak is everything the empire fears—vain, restless, impulsive, and hungry to matter. When Ishak is seduced into stealing the Sword of Iseldora, the sacred symbol of imperial legitimacy, he triggers the first fracture in the imperial order. The blade devours his youth, binds itself to his body, and awakens powers tied to forgotten ages of conquest. As Ishak flees into the darkness beyond the core worlds, Ashim disappears into myth. Years later, pilgrims, assassins, and exiles cross the lethal glass deserts of Ophis III searching for the legendary Sapphire Eye—the hidden refuge where Ashim may still live among ancient machines and buried truths. The Sapphire Eye is the story of the first domino falling: the theft, the betrayal, and the birth of the Withered King.
