Trials of Oma, The Book of Suffering

Trials of Oma, The Book of Suffering

I wrote this book because I saw a peculiar vacuum in the world of storytelling that I believed I could fill. In the world of Oma, beneath four watchful moons and the vast embrace of the Mother Tree, two races have long walked divided paths. The Omani—children of root and spirit—seek enlightenment through Oom, meditation, and the hidden sanctity of the natural world. The Ta Mas—born of fire and defiance—live by strength, mutation, and the long patience of centuries. Between them lies suspicion, old bloodshed, and the quiet poison of mutual contempt. Into this fractured realm comes En of Esel, a young Omani Wolf restless with the ache of comfort and familiarity. He hungers for something more than the safe rhythms of village life—for wild lands, true challenge, and perhaps even the impossible: understanding, no, befriending an enemy. What is begun by a stolen map and a forbidden meeting in a blood-soaked cave slowly unfolds into a friendship forged in fire, tested by betrayal, and tempered by war. What follows is the long and terrible road of suffering. En’s path leads him through shadowed alliances and ancient prophecies, through the revival of forgotten powers and the awakening of beings older than memory. He will stand beside Ta Mas warriors he once feared, face a entities who wear despair as a crown, and confront the Pale God Tiamatu himself—the self-proclaimed sovereign of suffering—who believes that existence itself is nothing but an endless torment to be endured or inflicted. This is no gentle fable. It is a story of blood and moons, of blades that sing at unnatural frequencies, of Drakin guardians and Lock Sages, of titanic clashes that shake the heavens and quiet choices that heal what war has broken. It is a tale of unlikely brotherhoods, of a child born where death reigns, of mountains named after fallen foes, and of a peace treaty signed between ancient enemies .Above all, it is an honest reckoning with suffering. I do not offer empty comfort. Suffering is real, cruel, and often it is seemingly unjust. Yet in these pages I have tried to show what the wise have always known: that fire tests gold, and that suffering, when met with courage and grace, becomes not merely a trial but a medicine—a harsh and holy forge through which mortals may rise toward something greater than themselves. It is the path by which enemies become kin, by which the restless heart finds its true home, and by which even gods may be humbled and bound. This is the story of how one young Wolf, through trials almost beyond bearing, helped bring about the dawn of a new age—an age in which Omani and Ta Mas might at last look one another in the eye, not as rivals, but as fellow children of Oma, and all this acccomplished in light of a revelation that is equal parts rememberence...and this rememberance is of he who is their Creator. If you have ever felt the sting of boredom in paradise, the longing for a friendship the world forbids, or the quiet question of why we must suffer at all, then perhaps these pages were written for you. May Yalum guide your steps as you walk them.
