I thought I was just an average teenager until prom night, when one of my best friends was dragged off by a monster right out of old English folklore. We all survived, but my entire world was turned upside down. I’d been getting ready to graduate from my small-town high school and head out into the world, but now I’ve discovered there’s even more to the world than I ever imagined. There’s a magical realm I never knew about, just one step through the shadows away. It’s a world filled with beings from myth, folklore, and urban legends. And it turns out, not only are these supernatural creatures real, but some of them are the friends I’ve been playing D&D with for years. All this time, they’ve been hiding their true nature from me. Even more amazing than all that, I’m one of them, a mythic, as they call themselves. The trouble is no one seems to be able to tell me which of the myriad mythic bloodlines I come from. My parents are both plain old humans, but they tell me mythic traits often skip generations, so I’m labeled a changeling, but one with an unusually powerful aura. The prospect of a whole new magical world to discover is both exciting and terrifying, but I’m trying hard to focus on the exciting part. I’m ready to leave home for the first time, head off to college with my mythic friends, and make my mark in two worlds.
