The mountain remembered his blood. Gāo Shuren was nothing more than a laborer buried beneath the collapsing mines of Shí Gǔ until a hidden chamber opened beneath the mountain and ancient bells began ringing through the earth. Deep below the world, the forgotten Deep Court awakened for the first time in ten thousand years. This is the beginning of the House Gāo legend. The first origin story of the bloodline that once held the foundation beneath heaven. And the first of many tales still buried within the roads of Tianzhi Yin. The buried empire of Tianzhi Yin was never truly dead. Its roads still stretched beneath heaven. Its guardians still waited in darkness. And House Gāo was once the bloodline that held the foundation of the world itself. Now kingdoms march toward war as ancient seals begin breaking beneath northern Dizhi. Dragonkin armies gather across Yán Chí. Stone roads rise from beneath ruined valleys. The Deep Court calls Shuren by name while something colossal climbs upward from the First Depth below the earth. To survive, Shuren must reclaim the inheritance buried in his blood before the Hollow Court returns and devours the surface world. But every road he awakens consumes more of him. Because the mountain does not give power freely. The mountain remembers. And memory always demands a price.
