Ruin

Ruin is a dark fantasy fight narrative set in an ancient, nameless arena beneath a dead city. Eight fighters compete in a single-elimination tournament for a prize of ultimate power — not a throne or a crown, but an absolute force that will absorb the essence of every combatant and pass it to the last one standing. The fighters are defined by their wounds. Seven of them were forged by suffering — poverty, loss, slavery, fire, imprisonment, violence — and each developed a supernatural fighting ability grown directly from that damage. The eighth, Elias Crane, is different: a cold, brilliant polymath who mastered every fighting system in existence not from pain but from pure intellectual will. His power, Sovereign Proof, bends reality slightly in favor of his certainty.
