Frontier Pathfinder: Chronicles of Mystery

Veratas is an ancient magical plane of immeasurable scale, a world where countless civilizations have risen, conquered, vanished, and left only ruins behind. Long ago, humanity stood among the greatest powers of Veratas. The Magical Empire of the Truth Seekers pushed magic to impossible heights, mastering meditation techniques, spells, alchemy, magical engineering, and planar gates. But in a lost era, the empire went to war against unknown forces from beyond Veratas. Humanity lost. Its golden age shattered, its inheritances were destroyed, and mankind was nearly driven to extinction. After the catastrophe, something new began to seep into the world: Mystery. Unlike mana, Mystery cannot be easily cultivated, controlled, or understood. It twists natural laws, mutates creatures, reshapes lands, and gives birth to Relics — strange objects, places, phenomena, or structures with unpredictable powers. No one truly knows how Relics are created. In the current age, humanity survives mainly on Longinquus, a vast continent that is still only a fragment of Veratas. Kingdoms, noble families, guilds, churches, institutes, orders, schools, and sects all guard their inheritances with ruthless secrecy. Knowledge is worth more than treasure. A single lost formula can raise a family, save a city, or start a war. In this fragmented world, Lucius Astoria, bastard son of an ancient fire sorcerer bloodline, is deemed talentless after failing the ritual that should have awakened his flame. At fifteen, he is granted the ancient title of Frontier Pathfinder and sent to a distant borderland near the edge of civilization, tasked with reclaiming territory for humanity. In truth, it is exile. But in a world where forgotten knowledge can be more valuable than power, even a discarded son may uncover truths that should have remained buried.
