Monartha Hagreaves had always believed he could solve most problems by ignoring them, but the one thing that did not disappear when ignored was death. Death came for everything in the world, and it was the thing he feared—no, it was what every human feared most. He wondered if it was possible for a human to live forever. After his food was poisoned by a nurse, he cursed the world before taking his final breath. Lucius Callisto spent the night gazing at shooting stars. While admiring their beauty, he wished that moment would last for all eternity. He muttered to himself, “I wish I could live forever.” In that moment, he experienced glimpses of the life of a person once known as Monartha Hagreaves. He deduced that he was, in fact, Monartha Hagreaves who had somehow continued living in a different body. This left him with a question: Was it truly possible for a human to escape death?
