I thought we were only chasing a legend. I was wrong. When my friends and I traveled to a remote village deep in the peat-swamp forests of Central Kalimantan, I told myself the stories were just stories. The Kuyang was supposed to be nothing more than an old nightmare from Indonesian folklore something whispered about to scare children and outsiders. But the village was too quiet. The people watched us like they already knew how this would end. And when we started asking questions, we learned the truth was far worse than any ghost story. Not every kuyang chooses to become one. Some inherit it. Some spend their whole lives trying to resist it. And some never escape it at all. Now the night is full of whispers, blood, and hunger. One of my friends is changing, and I can feel everything falling apart. What started as an investigation has turned into a fight to survive a curse that lives in human blood. If the kuyang is real, then the worst part is not what it looks like. The worst part is that it was once human. EXPLANATION ABOUT KUYANG A Kuyang is a terrifying figure from Indonesian folklore, especially from Kalimantan. It is often described as a woman’s head flying at night with her internal organs hanging beneath it. It is usually connected to black magic, blood, and cursed rituals.
