Then the war came early, the doors never opened, and only one man ever went inside. He wakes 286 years later to a planet that didn't wait for him. Earth has survived. It has even thrived — three small human colonies burn their fires within sight of his mountain, never knowing it slept beneath them. But something else woke first. A pattern on a dead antenna. A signature with a name Charles prayed he'd never use again. The last man on Earth has 286 years of catching up to do — and the world has been busy.
