In the merciless System of the Imperium, children do not have names - only serial numbers. Twelve-year-old Kael (7-AK-441119) and his friend Iskhak grow up in one of countless recruitment Domes, where children are raised from an early age to become perfect soldiers for an endless galactic war. Their world is confined to gray walls, exhausting training in worn combat suits capable of crushing their own wearers, rigid schedules, and constant propaganda about the God-Emperor, service, and the reward awaiting the faithful on Earth - in the mythical Paradise. Kael sincerely believes in the System and struggles to find meaning within it. Iskhak is his complete opposite: brilliant, observant, and cynical, he sees the weaknesses in machines, in people, and in the System itself. Where Kael seeks faith, Iskhak seeks patterns. Where others obey, he learns how to survive. Gradually, their friendship becomes the only personal anchor either of them has in a world where individuality does not exist. When the Dome suffers a devastating attack that claims the lives of fifteen million children, the routine does not change: the schedule continues, lessons proceed as planned, and the catastrophe is recorded only as an acceptable level of loss. For Kael, it is his first true confrontation with the Imperium’s indifference. His childhood faith begins to fracture, giving way to a new purpose: to become strong enough to ensure that no Dome will ever burn like this again. Six years of preparation end with Draft Day. At eighteen, Kael and Iskhak leave the Dome and undergo a painful biological modification that transforms them into something more than human: warriors capable of living for centuries, if the war allows it. But with their new bodies comes a new understanding - he Imperium does not save, does not remember, and does not grieve. It only counts. Leaving behind the ashes of childhood, the empty seats in the mess hall, and the names scratched into the walls of a forgotten maintenance corridor, Kael and Iskhak take their first step into the endless war. Ahead of them lie a thousand years of battle, in which they must decide what they will truly become: nameless instruments of the System, or people capable of preserving themselves inside the iron. They do not look back.
