Yggdrasil. The cosmic tree of life. Its branches and roots cradled the realms, and at its crown sat the gods. The path of ascension climbed toward them. Then the Outer One came. The clash between the gods and the malevolent Outer One shook every realm on the Tree. The gods fell. The Outer One vanished, but its influence did not. Yggdrasil itself was corrupted, and from its poisoned veins crawled hideous monsters that gnawed at the broken realms. Elvyn Orvath is a tavern boy with a mysterious past, surviving in one of those broken realms. A chance encounter with the remnant of a fallen god is about to change his fate. For good or worse.
