"With time, problems shall pass and feuds will be mended. If a man holds onto his pride and hatred, he shall fall off his horse with an arrow in his chest." - Korikawa Motooki (1445-1477) In the blood-soaked soil of the Sengoku Jidai, the minor valleys of Aki Province are a dangerous place to hold land in. Caught between regional titans like the Ōuchi and the Amago, smaller clans must barter their independence with deception, steel, diplomacy and blood. At the center of this pressure cooker stands Korikawa Motohira. Hardened by the fires of Kyōto, he struggles to hold his fractured dominion together against treacherous vassals, militant monasteries, and the constant threat of new concept of Gekokujō Daimyos and vassals. Yet, the true heart of the Korikawa lies in the fierce bonds of a single family. Bound by an arranged marriage that defied all expectations, Motohira and his sharp-witted Uragami wife, Tsuru, navigate a world of wolves as a united front. Together with their children, they must play a deadly game where a single misstep means total annihilation. A story of feudal politics, local samurai warfare, and the loyalty of a family refusing to be crushed by history.
