City of Wretches

The special economic zone of Trystain, long considered by its parent countries to be a red-headed stepchild and a waste of tax dollars, finds itself at the heart of a horrible tangle of events. As the world shakes with changes yet to be understood, private investigator Corey Tindrisch tirelessly works to uncover the truth. Men willingly turn themselves into monsters in pursuit of a hateful dream, and an infernal mind seeks power through wealth and dominance. And Corey keeps finding a single person tangled in the web of horrors: His close friend, Laura Meissner, whose desperate secrets may yet save Trystain from drowning in its own blood.
