Silas Vane died doing his job. He wakes up in Ossuary -- a continent of bone-white ruins and bruised skies, where every living thing carries an internal ledger tracking the balance between life and death. Earn enough credit, and you grow stronger. Fall behind, and you erode. Piece by piece. Memory by memory. Until there's nothing left. The system gives Silas a class built from his worst skill: triage. He can see who's dying. He can see who's past saving. And the numbers the system shows him look exactly like the ones that killed a girl back on Earth. In Pallor, a managed city where no one starves and no one is free, Silas builds a crew from the margins -- a three-hundred-year-old killer who's forgotten how to stop, a teenage broker selling years of her own life to fund an orphanage, a soldier who's traded pieces of himself for power, and a cartographer mapping the ruins that everyone else treats as scenery. But the ruins aren't scenery. They're infrastructure. And the system isn't fair. It's a machine. Silas has to decide what kind of man he is: the one who plays the system, or the one who breaks it open. Dead Man's Ledger is a dark progression fantasy about the cost of survival, the math of compassion, and the stubborn refusal to accept that some people aren't worth saving. Book 1 of 9 in the Dead Man's Ledger series. The system counts what you produce. It doesn't count what you're worth.
