If the Order of Light ever discovers what's living inside Kael's head, they'll execute him without a trial. Which is unfortunate, because the soul of history's greatest evil — his ancestor, as it turns out — has no interest in leaving. They've reached an arrangement: Kael gets power beyond imagination, and the old monster gets to be insufferably involved in his life. The plan is to blend in at the world's top magic academy, hide everything, and grow strong enough to actually manage the situation. He just wants a quiet, comfortable life.
