For just over a thousand years, the Asleryian Empire has stood beneath the rule of House Tiberius. At its heart rests the Sunlit Throne, long regarded as a symbol of human strength and the shield of the mortal realms. Even if an empire can endure for centuries it will still begin to rot. Years of complacency, political decay, and old rivalries have left cracks beneath Asleryia's gilded foundations. Under Emperor Vareth II, those weaknesses are laid bare when the imperial armies suffer a crippling defeat at the hands of the demi-human rabbles to the east. In the aftermath, an emergency hearing is called to decide the future of the Empire. Lords, generals, priests, and politicians gather beneath the shadow of defeat, each carrying their own ambitions, loyalties, and fears. Beyond the borders, old enemies begin to stir. Within them, unrest grows. House Tiberius has survived rebellion, war, and centuries of bloodshed, but the age ahead may demand more than survival. As the enemies of mankind gather once more, the question is no longer whether the Empire can reclaim its former glory. It is whether Asleryia can endure at all. A young eagle rises, a Daughter of Idia is blessed, and discarded blood begins to stir with magic.
