The Steward's Charge

The Steward's Charge

by DASanches

LitRPGPortal Fantasy / IsekaiProgressionKingdom BuildingFantasy

Anthony Reyes didn’t arrive with power. He arrived with a question. A broke business major dropped into a medieval fantasy world with no weapon, no prophecy, and no plan – just a system that doesn’t track kills. It tracks value created. Value destroyed. System impact. His charge is Greyhaven: a market town being quietly strangled by a man who believes people are variables and efficiency is the only morality. Anthony has to build something that outlasts that through structure, trust, and a stewardship model that proves people aren’t disposable. The system is watching. It doesn’t grade on effort. Above Greyhaven, a dragon has been dying for two generations. Its presence once sustained the land itself. Its natural processes refined raw metal throughout the hills into something extraordinary – a byproduct that shaped the ecology and economy of everything within reach. Anthony’s stewardship model is the first thing that has begun to reverse the decline. That change draws the attention of Iriniel, an elf from the mountain city built into the peaks above Greyhaven, who arrives with a warning and a judgment not yet decided. She has been watching longer than he has been practicing. Behind her stands the full weight of her people’s ancient relationship with the dragon – and their own stake in what Anthony is building. The dragon. The elf. The steward. These three threads are what Greyhaven needs to survive what’s coming. Because Greyhaven is not the real crisis. Half the world’s dragons are already gone. The rest are dying behind failing kingdoms, extractive economies, and broken systems that no longer understand what they cost. The Steward’s Charge is a LitRPG about stewardship, economics, ecology, and the cost of building something worth keeping – from the scale of a market stall to the fate of a world filled with men, elves, dwarves, orcs, and dragons that is running out of time.
