Alaric was not born in this world. In his first life he was Tomas Yurievich, an exhausted university student surviving in a dying civilization as war consumed the modern world. He watched nations collapse, cities burn, and humanity destroy itself beneath nuclear fire. Then he woke again. Now reborn as Alaric, a young orphan rescued by a foreign church after his border village was annihilated by invading armies, he finds himself trapped in another world balanced on the edge of conflict. With memories of humanity’s collapse still haunting him, Alaric grows obsessed with one thing above all else: never allowing himself to be helpless again. While others view magic as a divine blessing, Alaric approaches it with relentless discipline and cold curiosity. He studies it not as mysticism, but as a system to be understood, dismantled, and perfected. From a nameless orphan to a rising knight, he advances step by step through war, politics, and ambition, building the strength needed to protect the fragile things people call peace. But peace has never lasted forever. In a world that believes the Demon God is long dead and history’s greatest horrors are buried in the past, Alaric will eventually learn how fragile civilization truly is... and what it means to stand at the edge of the Broken Horizon.
