Draft in progress—expect typos, oopsies, and changes. Watch me live-novel Tuesdays 10am–2pm MDT/UTC-6 at twitch.tv/ignatiavt youtube.com/@ignatiavt. Synopsis Vera awakens from another evening of alcohol-fueled self-destruction. Sadly, this isn't the first time she's woken up after having passed out in an alley. It is, however, the first time she's woken up in an alley in another world. As Vera learns to live and adapt in this science fantasy-esque world, reminiscent of Final Fantasy XII and The Book of the New Sun, she'll discover she didn't end up here by accident. She's a pawn in a chess game played by the gods, and the god who chose her is banking on her losing. The poor sod doesn't know there isn't a nerdy trans woman alive who hasn't extensively dreamed about and planned for their hypothetical-yet-longed-for isekai. Not that any of Vera's isekai is going to go according to plan, as she's rejected from mage college and forced to become something other than human, to say nothing of confronting the emotional wounds she's been doing her best to ignore. As she embraces the fire inside her, she'll learn that it not only destroys—it also renews. Author's Notes Lead character is a polyamorous, lesbian transwoman. I'm motivated to write because I want to depict polyamory in the different ways that I and people I know live it. This isn't harem fantasy; expect jealousy, difficult yet honest conversations, personal growth, and the fantasy equivalent of Google Calendar (iykyk). The LitRPG elements come in a bit later. I'm inspired by stuff like Azarinth Healer, Budding Scientist in a Fantasy World, and a host of other isekai, litrpg, and gamelit novels that have been published on Kindle Unlimited (that started on Royal Road). This looks might develop into the lore of my vtuber character (or at least be inspired by it). Content Warnings The reason for the sensitive content tag is the MC's initial alcohol abuse, ongoing coping with a mental illness (ADHD), and working through trauma in general. This isn't the more extreme end of the content warning spectrum. (I'll update this and clearly flag if that changes.) Sexual violence may be obliquely mentioned or alluded to, but that's it. It doesn't drive any plot, is never described, and doesn't happen to any characters over the course of the story. Finally, as of now, there's no plans for explicit sexual content, though that may change if I become capable of writing less cringeworthy sex scenes. Again, if that changes, I'll change the warning tags and clearly flag it.
