A normal day at work, one more Morale Day turned Layoff meeting, was supposed to end with nothing worse than a headache. Then the fog came. The System carved the world into tiles overnight, and a Texas fabrication shop found itself reclassified as one of them, a contested piece of ground its workers now had to defend just to keep it.
To survive, James Mercer has to lead his crew through a ruthless new 4X reality: claim territory from the horrors in the fog, expand into the unknown, exploit the resource tiles, and exterminate anything trying to take it from them. But the old workplace hierarchy is collapsing into something closer to faction warfare, and James is starting to realize the monsters in the fog aren't the only thing hunting them. Some of it's already inside the walls.
