BOOK ONE COMPLETE — 46 CHAPTERS An inn, a cat, and two troubles. At Dragonfire Inn, two strangers cross paths. Maer is a gray mage searching for a way to escape the emotions of others that keep spilling into his own. Subutai is a wandering swordsman with an entire year missing from his memory. Their meeting might have ended there if the inn’s cat had remained just a cat. Fırtık speaks. He claims he has been waiting for them for a very long time, though even he cannot explain why. All he knows is that they need to trust him—and follow. He leads them to Once Was, Once Was Not, a strange house where rooms refuse to stay where they should, time has a habit of slipping out of step, and the building itself seems to remember far more than any house ought to. Somewhere inside may be answers Maer and Subutai have spent years searching for. But the deeper they go, the clearer it becomes that the house has a past, secrets, and perhaps even a will of its own. And one question keeps following them from room to room: Why was Fırtık waiting for them? Meleran: Once Was, Once Was Not is a completed fantasy mystery that blends a dark fairy-tale atmosphere, strange humor, emotional stakes, and a growing sense of danger around three unlikely companions and a living house where time, memory, and choice rarely behave as expected.
