In the Grey Lands, the rule is simple: never look at what comes from the Void.Kaelis looked anyway.A Warden of Rank, orphaned by war, trained since childhood to serve the Dawn and destroy what opposes it, Kaelis is exactly what the Order made him. Until a mission brings him face to face with something his years of training never prepared him for.Not a monster.Someone who acts. Who chooses. Whose every move defies what Kaelis was taught to hate. The problem: that someone is Vaelorn. The Ancient. The absolute evil the Wardens have named their enemy for generations.Kaelis should have left. Should have never looked back. But something changed in the Grey Lands. Not the world. Not Vaelorn.Kaelis.And he doesn't know yet whether that's a betrayal, or the first truth he's ever let himself feel.
