Reid Star is a thief. A survivor. A boy who learned early that trust is a weakness and hope is a lie. Then he tries to rob the wrong man. Jin Haruto is a legend — the most powerful mage on the continent. And he sees something in Reid. A spark. A potential. A second chance. Before Reid knows what's happening, he's pulled from the streets and into a world of nobles, guilds, dungeons, and wars he never asked to be part of. Under Jin's tutelage and the protection of King Allastor, Reid begins to grow. He makes friends, learns to fight, and bonds with a strange sword that drinks his mana and seems to have a will of its own. But Jin is hiding something — something about Reid's past, about a promise made long ago, about a truth that could change everything. And the Empire is watching. When the secrets finally surface, Reid will have to decide who he really is — and what he's willing to lose to protect the people he's come to love. He's not a hero. But he might become something greater.
