Modern office worker Li Yu transmigrates into an ancient romance novel where the heroine is reborn—and she becomes the cannon-fodder supporting character with a miserable fate. To return home, Li Yu tries every possible way to “court death,” but inadvertently alters the story’s course. The side characters who were originally doomed manage to survive, and the novel’s most powerful fighter, Wen Jiu, discovers her apparent death wish. In his attempts to “save” her, he repeatedly interferes with her plans, tangling their fates together. The story’s pacing is light and humorous, preserving Li Yu’s modern personality while exploring the backstories of various supporting characters. What was once a regret-filled ending becomes a complete, fulfilling tale.
