Royce Bernhardt lived a troubled life. Not because his family struggled financially. Not because of the future his parents had mapped out for him. Quite the opposite actually. Royce had trouble following the directions of his elders, constantly disrespecting authoritative figures while treating responsibility as someone else's burden. When Royce is sent off to boarding school, after finally exhausting the patience of his family, the last thing he expects is to enter a world where sorcery is real and arrogance is a true liability without the power to back it. For the first time in his life, Royce will be forced to reckon with who he is, and who he has to become to survive.
