The Pale Ledger

At Merrick Preparatory Academy, excellence is measured in stillness, obedience, and silence. Every morning, the students rise, assemble, and sing of Darris Merrick, the Vessel; the man who, a century ago, pierced the veil of reality and made contact with the Silent Court, ancient beings who now rule the world from beyond sight. Their will is absolute. Their leader is known only as the Unnamed. No one questions this. Because no one needs to. Because everything they could ever need is already within the Valley.
