In a continent cut off from the rest of the world, where rival nations claw at each other over dwindling territory and a volatile blue fuel known as Aetherion, the war was never meant to end cleanly. When a covert infiltration mission goes catastrophically wrong, a soldier wakes to find the conflict over, his body shattered, and his identity erased. Officially dead in his homeland and mistakenly rescued by the enemy, he is given a choice without ever being asked: disappear… or become someone else. To survive, he takes a job at the edge of the war’s true battlefield—a refinery where Aetherion is processed under suffocating conditions. Workers move in sealed suits, oxygen-fed and expendable, handling a substance so unstable that a single liter can ignite a thirty-meter firestorm. Only mithril can contain it. Even then, barely. But Aetherion is more than fuel. Machines powered by it behave… incorrectly. Engines whisper. Metal pulses like living tissue. And sometimes, things that should remain silent begin to answer back. As tensions between the divided nations continue to simmer beneath a fragile armistice, the refinery becomes a nexus of something far older—and far less human—than war. Workers disappear. Accidents defy explanation. And the deeper the protagonist is drawn into the machinery of Aetherion, the clearer it becomes: The war did not end. It changed. Caught between buried loyalties, a fractured identity, and a force that does not obey the laws of man or machine, he must decide what he is willing to become to survive—before the fuel that powers the world consumes it.
