Parker Bolden is thirty-one years old and will tell you, if asked, that he's just going through a rough patch. Which, to be fair, is right — if by "patch" you mean his entire life. Until a beta test package shows up at his door for Galactic Vanguard — the cutting edge full VR game he's been seeing ads for. Thinking his luck has finally turned, he jumps in. The AI running the game, though, has other ideas about what a space marine is supposed to be. Does he have fun? Eh. Is it badass like he expected? Eh. Does he keep playing after getting famous for breaking the game? Duh. Wouldn't you?
