This page is home to a LitRPG short story cycle set in the city of Karrowmark, a frontier town built on the lip of the largest known dungeon on the continent. The shop at the heart of the cycle is a small pawn shop on a quiet street called Cooper's Bend. The woman behind the counter is sixty-two years old, drinks her tea cold, and has not fired her crossbow in eleven years. She is about to. Most LitRPG follows the sword. This one follows the receipt. The protagonist is a Pawnbroker, a "civilian" Class the world treats as a joke and which, in the right hands, turns out to be one of the most dangerous Classes in the Sheltered Lands. Mira Vance has spent forty-one years quietly leveling a power that operates in the same legal medium as gods. She has been waiting, without knowing she was waiting, for someone to walk through her door with a black coin and the wrong kind of fear in their face. In The Last Receipt, a frightened nineteen-year-old Skirmisher does exactly that. The cycle begins there.
