Synopsis: Rgg1 – Part 1 The Beginning of the End The story opens in the suburbs of Brick City, where a mundane summer afternoon is shattered when the sun "vanishes" under the shadow of a massive alien war mech. The invasion is instantaneous and clinical. A group of friends at a picnic, including Marcus and Sarah, are immediately vaporized or hunted down by hyper-advanced bipedal mechs and camouflaged scout drones. The initial wave establishes the invaders' terrifying efficiency: they utilize kinetic railguns, silent light darts, and surgical precision to eliminate any resistance, including news crews and police officers. The Urban Massacre and "Hero Bill" In the city, the police force is systematically dismantled despite a desperate skirmish on 5th Street. Amidst the slaughter, a man known as Hero Bill displays an eerie, detached pragmatism. He attempts to rescue civilians, losing one young girl in the process but successfully guiding another to a motor home. Bill prioritizes survival and firepower, looting a police precinct for heavy ordnance before fleeing toward the mountains. The Harvest and the Power Towers The true nature of the invasion is revealed in the valley near a mountain bunker. The invaders are not just conquerors but harvesters. They use human "slaves" to construct spire-like towers that function as biological batteries. Groups of seven humans are forced into these structures, where their life force is converted into green electrical energy to wirelessly refuel the mechs. Anyone deemed "excess" or who resists is summarily executed. This systematic "harvesting" extends across sectors, claiming passengers from trains and airliners alike. The Resistance at the Bunker As the world falls into a "graveyard of highways," a few survivors—including Bill—manage to reach a fortified mountain bunker. Outside, a silent, high-caliber gunner serves as a lone sentry. While the rest of civilization is erased—from fishing trawlers at sea to campers in the woods—the bunker remains a final holdout. The Long Vigil The narrative shifts into a montage of seasonal change, highlighting the passage of time. The gunner remains at his post through autumn, winter, and spring, acting as a statue of defiance. He successfully repels scouts and eventually survives a massive, three-day siege when the invaders finally discover the mountain. Part 1 ends on a grim, atmospheric note: the gunner sits victorious amidst a mountain of shell casings, but the alien towers in the valley continue to hum with the "souls of the lost," waiting for the next phase of their plan.
