Nyx is destined to be the next ruler of her kingdom, but everything in her life has either been forced or tightly controlled. She must embark on her generational quest that all the rulers before her went on, to obtain a magic gem that will mark her ascension to the throne. Little does she know that her quest will contain more than just danger, but self discovery after an assassin fails to take her life when she saves him. Now he must grapple with the strange confusion that the kind princess has stirred and decide whether not to help her along her journey as they both learn more about the world around them and each other.
