Velthoria: The Dagger of The First Light

Nineteen-year-old Liam Hale has spent years trying to outrun the grief that hollowed out his life back on Earth. But when a violent storm of impossible light tears him from his world and drops him into the ancient city of Barrowdeep, he becomes something far more dangerous than lost. He becomes chosen. A relic older than the Empire — the Shattered Sigil Dagger — awakens in his hand, binding itself to him with a pulse of raw, unpredictable magic. Liam doesn’t understand it. He doesn’t want it. But Velthoria does. And the moment the Sigil stirs, the city begins to hunt. Pursued by Seekers, Veilborn assassins, and the oppressive Wardens, Liam is saved only by the reckless, sharp‑tongued smuggler Brun, who drags him into the underbelly of the city. Together, they flee through collapsing tunnels, ancient ruins, and the haunted depths of the Shattered Warrens, where creatures older than memory hunt by the sound of magic itself. With nowhere else to turn, Liam seeks answers from Elder Voras, a cryptic scholar who sees Liam not as a hero, but as an inconvenience — a fracture in the world’s balance. Voras reveals a truth Liam never asked for: the Sigil chose him for a reason, and its awakening signals a shift Velthoria has feared for centuries. As Liam and Brun navigate hidden markets, forgotten magic, and the dangerous politics of a world on the brink, they form an unlikely bond — two broken boys clinging to each other in a place that devours the unprepared. But the deeper they go, the clearer it becomes: The Sigils didn’t shatter by accident. The Empire didn’t rise by chance. And Liam’s arrival is not a mistake. Something ancient is waking.Something powerful.Something that remembers the Sigils — and wants them back. To survive, Liam must confront the grief he’s buried, the magic he fears, and the truth of why the dagger chose him. Because in Velthoria, power is never silent…and the world is listening.
