Stoker lives between worlds, even when he only inhabits one. Once a knight in Sunsire, a land of war, monsters, and rigid hierarchies, he now lives in quiet exile on Earth, passing his days in routine and distance from the life that defined him. The violence is gone, but so is the structure that once gave him purpose. What remains is a man shaped by loss, trying to exist in a world that no longer requires what he was built to be. Then he meets Heyza. There is nothing outwardly extraordinary about her. She is quiet, self-possessed, difficult to categorize. But her presence provokes something in him, feelings older than memory and deeper than desire. With her, Stoker begins to confront parts of himself he has long avoided: grief that never settled, instincts that no longer fit, and questions of identity that extend beyond loyalty and purpose into love, attachment, and the boundaries of his own sexuality. Inamorata is the first book in The 9th Arm, a six-part series spanning three worlds: Earth, Sunsire, and Nyxoria. While this opening installment is grounded and intimate, it lays the foundation for a larger narrative in which those worlds, and the truths behind them, begin to converge. Blending fantasy and speculative fiction with a focus on identity, displacement, masculinity, sexuality, and love, The 9th Arm begins not with spectacle, but with a man who has survived everything except the quiet life he thought he wanted.
